This is my second poem. A true personal artifact, it was written along with "(In)Dependence" and "Something New" to cope with the new ideas and thoughts in sophomore year. The title is based on the Rolling Stone's "Sympathy for the Devil" opening, although at the time I was listening to Guns N Roses' cover of it.
"Please Allow Me to Introduce Myself"
You know who I am Or at least you think you do I don’t know what you think But I want to I want to know you personally And , between you and me I know I am your last choice But I hope you will join me You are in my heart Forever fused within And from this heart pumps the blood Full of love and sin My love for thee is oh so great Your eyes attract me to thine I want to see behind those eyes And know the beauty of your mind But in this love is a sin A sin so horrid and dark You and I are no more matched Than strangers in the park. My mind is aching with the blood The blood of sin and love The sin creates a blockade But with love, it can be outdone So now I ask to introduce myself I love you and need to say That no matter what I do anytime else That love is here to stay
