Oceanography: MAR 104

From Stony Brook University's Undergraduate Bulletin:

MAR 104 is "an examination of the World Ocean and the chemical, geological,  biological, and physical processes that control its major features and the life that inhabits it. Students will also explore human interactions with the marine environment."The class is intended as a science course for non-science majors.

Class Description:

I attended two lectures every week that were always prefaced with a short quiz regarding the content of the last lecture and the current day's lecture. The final grade in the course represents four exams, a final exam, and the accumulated quiz scores. Each exam represents fifteen percent, the final exam represents twenty percent, and the quizzes represe nt twenty percent of the final grade. There is also an opportunity to gain extra credit by attending a marine science themed lecture and filling out a response form.

Goals for MAR 104:

As might be garnered from other aspects of my ePortfolio, I am fascinated with the ocean and currently posses an indecent amount of enthusiasm for this course. I hope to gain a broad understanding of oceanography and perhaps target any areas that I might struggle with as I advance through upper division marine science courses. My topical goals for this course are to earn high grades on all of my exams and quizzes and eventually earn an "A" as my final grade in the course.
