HELLO.

Learning from Engineering Disasters? ehhhh

I was hesitant about this class from the minute I registered for it, only because I've never taken any type of engineering class. After reading the syllabus and viewing lecture one, I can say I am genuinely interested in the material we'll be covering. At the end of this class, I expect to be more knowledgeable and be able to put some meat on the abstract bones of engineering failures.

My name is Karina, and I am a junior here at Stony Brook. I believe this class relates not only to my psych major, but it is can give us a generalized concept of what can happen in just about anything if we're not cautious, or merely try to take shortcuts.

We live and learn, and we will continue to make mistakes for as long as the human race is around. But with every mistake we make we will learn. I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes:

“Failure is so important. We speak about success all the time.

It is the ability to resist failure or use failure that often leads to greater success.

I've met people who don't want to try for fear of failing.”
