Since the beginning of this course I expected to learn about many different disasters. In ESG-201 I did learn about many great Engineering disasters, however the real lesson learned was through the research project and lectures is the humanity behind it. As an engineer you create, innovate, and transform structures or machines to aid people and better mankind by making things more efficient. However with each disaster we learned about we would learn the reason behind the failure albeit due to human error, design flaw, material failure, or poor management. No matter the reason the responsibility lies with the engineer. There is always a better method for prevention and mitigation that could have significantly lessen the gravity of the impact of the disaster.

During my group project and the other examples of engineering disasters I learned that even neglecting a simple task such as annual check up of the system could lead to dire consequences. These consequences are not ones which can be easily repaired and affect the function of a whole system.
