In 2004 Barbara Whitaker established Lumen Arts, a video production company. At that time Lumen Arts produced Shakespeare and Company: A Corner of the World, a short documentary about the Shakespeare and Company bookstore in Paris, France.  In 2014 Barbara will return to Paris to look at the changes the bookstore has undergone since the torch was passed from George Whitman to his daughter, Sylvia Beach Whitman.

Homeless: Aftermath of Katrina,  a documentary about survivors of Huricane Katrina was produced in 2006.

Lumen Arts is currently in production of "Peeling the Onion," a documentary about the Israeli/Palestinian/Arab peace process and the history of the region for the past century.
