Work Experience
- Mary B. Wakefield Trust: Horticultural and Landscaping Internship (July 2013 - August 2013)
- Study horticultural nomenclature for the completion of the internship.
- Learn and utilize landscape management skills. These skills include: pruning, weeding, mulching, sanding, painting, building a stone garden, constructing outdoor classrooms, and dismantling barbed wire fencing.
- Learn and implement basic animal care principles. Animals that were tended to included: llamas, sheep, chickens, and arthritic dogs.
- Supervise and teach elementary school children who visited the property. One specific example was the Steppingstone Foundation which brought school children from Boston public schools.
- Trustees of Reservations: City Harvest Youth Corps Member (June 2012 –August 2012)
- Plant, cultivate, and harvest organic produce for CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) component of the City Harvest program along with supplying the City Harvest farmer's markets.
- Deliver fresh organic food to neighborhoods in Boston with low healthy food accessibility. Specific areas of Boston included Dorchester and Mattapan.
- Work cash boxes and sell produce at the farmer's markets.
- Effectively communicate with CSA members who were interested in the work done on the farm or the City Harvest Program.
- Maintain a beautiful flower garden.
