Mr. Spikes has worked with students from grades K - 12, first as an Elementary Media Specialist, then as a Middle School Media Production Workshop Leader, and later as a High School Mass Media and Communications Teacher. Details of achievements in the educational field follow below. 

 

Curriculum Development:

  • Participating in the creation and writing of a comprehensive set of curricula for students in grades 6-12.  
    • Curriculum focus:
      • Comprehension and operation of electronic media equipment including electronic media production.
      • Journalistic ethics and reporting
      • News Literacy
      • Electronic media production for both the DC Public Schools, and PBS’ Newshour Extra Student Reporting Labs, and Friendship News Network.
      • ISTE standards of work readiness for the Career and Technical Education Department at Theodore Roosevelt Senior High School at Department Chairperson.
