"La mestiza is a product of the transfer of the cultural and spiritual values of one group to another." -Gloria Anzaldua
La mestiza explains the multidiveristy displayed in today's society. It offers the explaination of the blend between religion, language, race, and culture. I chose this quote because everyone identifies with multiple identities and la mestiza creates boundaries and links between these identities. The word was created in reference to people with mixed decents. Today, our culture is divided into categorizing and borders, however, because people identify with more than one, the combination of them resembles Anzaldua's example of learning to be an Indian in Mexican culture, to be Mexican from and Anglo point of view. The juggle of different cultures is evident today with the diversity in today's society.
