My Memory

He may have been a great modern architect, but I knew him for his beautiful childlike nature.  On this beautiful spring day, Michael and Ati went on a brisk walk through the Millerton, NY farm fields.  At Ati's dismay, John and I lagged behind and stopped to look for four leaf clovers.  He wove stories of his childhood into the daydreams of the day.  As we sat in the field maticulously inspecting each clover, I listened to his stories and watched as he became a young boy full of inquiry and wonder.   Ati gave us a good chewing out as she returned from her walk with Michael.  As we walked back to the car, I squeezed John's arm and told him, "We created a wonderful memory today."  He nodded his head and said, "Indeed.  Indeed."  He squeezed my arm and confirmed the thought with his, "Well, well, well".

John Johansen passed in the early morning hours of October 26, 2012 ... he's somewhere over the rainbow where skies are blue and his dreams that he dream of really do come true.  The clouds are far behind him and his troubles melt like lemon drops ...  We miss you John.  Save a place for us.  You live in our hearts.
