When beginning to think about what piece to use for my digital story, I find it difficult to begin. There was so much music composed in the Romantic era, that I decided I needed to take a step back and just think about what I enjoy listening to, or what has a special place in my heart. Immediately I thought of Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin. I've always enjoyed Schubert, but I couldn't stop there. I truly enjoy "early" American music, so Gottschalk came to mind. Finally, I thought of Meyerbeer's Les Huguenots

I truly have my work cut out for me. On one hand, Schubert has a special place in my (and countless others' Romantic-minded) heart(s). On the other, I greatly enjoy the clarity of American Romanticism. If I'm allowed to have three hands, I'll add to my collection, Les Huguenots--specifically a time when the Protestants are on stage. I have done some research that focuses around the Protestant Reformation and so hearing Ein feste Burg brought into a Romantic composition sparks a particular interest.

Now I will simply begin to think more of this project as a whole while listening to these pieces in order to find a piece that fits my time limit of 3~4 minutes.
