In order for me to achieve my long-term goals, I must first achieve my short-term goals. My main priority as of now is to finish college with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. To achieve this goal, I need to better manage my time and allocate them properly. Time management will help me prepare for the corporate world as well as help balance my professional life with my social life in the future.  If I learn to allocate my time more effectively, I will have less stress and have more time to do other activities, including searching for internship opportunities. This leads to my second short-term goal: obtaining an internship in a finance sector of a major company. I want to intern in a company that I wish to work for once I graduate from college. And if not, I want to gain as much experiences from different internships to help build my resume and qualifications for future jobs. Securing experiences through internship will increase my chance of obtaining employment after graduation. Through a well-paid employment, I plan to pay off my student loans and be debt free. Once I pay off my student loans, I will focus more on advancing my career in hopes of managing a multi-million dollars project. My short-term goals are stepping stones to my long-term goals. Each step is important for my future success.  Goal setting is important for a leader because a leader should always know where he is going or a rough idea of it. A leader that is blind to his own direction would have a hard time leading his followers. People do not wish to follow an uncertain leader, who has no idea of where he is going or what lies behind the horizon. Goal setting allows the leader to have something to work toward and satisfaction that comes with achieving those goals. It increases one’s self-motivation.
