Student A Reflection

Researching more on rapid prototyping allowed me to obtain more knowledge in the field. I learned that there are forms of rapid prototyping that can be produced in color such as 3D printing by the Z Corporation. Rapid Prototyping was first invented by Charles Hull with stereolithography back in 1988 by 3D Systems, Inc. Stereolithography utilizes a photosensitive liquid polymer and is solidified via a laser beam. Fused Deposition Modeling was learned intricately during the laboratory and was just overviewed in this podcast.

The final podcast was filled with dynamic visual effects and complementing music that sets the pace of the video. Areas of refinement include the fact the video tried to cover too much topics within a 5 minute span and had to cut a lot of the meat out to be able to touch all the subjects outlined. However, maybe it is just me who feels as this since I have knowledge within the field. This will cause my perception to vary from one who doesn’t have the knowledge of rapid prototyping prior to seeing this video making it seem I should have went more in depth when to others, it may be just perfect.

Barriers I experienced during production included finding an appropriate relationship with the content, and how I wanted to deliver the information. I chose a friendly, up-beat path which seemed to flow well. Other barriers were the 5 minute limit in which I had to ensure was sustained. In the end, everything came together and fell perfectly.

Podcasts are definitely a fun and interactive method for dispersing information through today’s technology. Because current generations are adapted to the fast delivery of information through pictures and video due to televisions, communicating through podcasts is a proven, effective method for capturing ones attention. Podcasts should be used more frequently, given that it will be produced effectively and with an objective/goal that is met by the podcasts’ end.
