REU/SRI Model ePortfolios

Summer 2012

Christina AgentaThis portfolio is all about my research project in the BME Department under Dr. Balaji Sitharaman for the REU Nanotechnology for Health, Energy, and the Environment at Stony Brook University for the Summer 2012. I'm currently a junior studying Chemical and Molecular Engineering with a concentration in Materials Science at Stony Brook University because it is challenging and worthwhile. Interested in a minor in Linguistics because the science behind language is what connects people.

Sarah CarlI am a Chemical Engineer major with a Renewable Energy minor at University of Nevada, Reno.  I aim to obtain a doctorate in either chemical engineering or material science engineering so that I can freely research and impart knowledge to others about my research. You are viewing my portfolio that details the Nanotechnology for Health, Energy, and the Environment summer research program at Stony Brook University.  Navigate through the sections of this portfolio to learn more about me and my experience during the summer research program.

Sheri Bossong - I am a Junior at Stony Brook University as an Engineering Science major with a specialization in Environmental Engineering. This has been a passion of mine for a long time, and I want to work with renewable energy. My hometown is Hicksville which is on Long Island.  No one in my family has ever been an engineer. My involvment in the Environmental Club brings me fulfillment socially and through my major course of study.

My name is Mack WardThis E-Portfolio is a representation of who I am. It details some of my accomplishments, goals, and learning expereinces, especially my participation in the REU for Nanotechnoloy at Stony Brook University. I hope you enjoy looking at some of my research and reading my reflections.

Marissa MacAneney -  I am from Holtsville, New York on Long Island. I am currently an undergraduate student at Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York. I am double majoring in Biochemistry and Integrative Molecular Neuroscience and hope to attend medical school and obtain my MD degree. Ever since I can remember I have wanted to pursue a career in medicine and my undergraduate experiences in research, publications and volunteer work have confirmed that pursuit.

Rajan Kumar-  I am a Nanoscale Engineer and Mathematics Major at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany, NY. I have great aspirations in practicing in Nanomedicine. Although Eric Drexler had claimed that nanotechnology will change the world with self assembled nanobots, I feel that nanotechnology will make a difference in medicine especially in my life time.

Otherwise, the field of nanotechnology fascinates me ever since I learned about it as a central topic of the Academic WorldQuest Competition during my junior year of high school. At that time, I was studying nanotechnology's potential to change the world as experts declared it the next and biggest Industrial Revolution in mankind's history. Eventually I expanded my interest to the science, where I learned that a whole, undiscovered world exists at the nano scale. I hope to dive myself into the mysterious depths of the nanoworld, and I hopefully come out with an understanding or powerful application.

Kweku Acquah - I am an inspired undergraduate chemist hoping to contribute to the ideas and efforts being made to bridge the gap between medicine and technology. I am in my final year at Worcester State University, with an interest in research (nanotechnology) and pharmaceutics.I have been inspired by several people including my colleagues, friends and faculty but my parents stands out when it comes to encouragement and motivation to strive for a better future. I like all kinds of sports, from basketball to football to soccer, but I'll sacrifice all these to read and educated myself if needs be. My favorite teams include Chelsea and Barcelona (soccer), Celtics (Basketball), and Colts, Ravens, and Bengals (Football). Unfortunately I'm not a fan of baseball.
