My Philosophy of Education
It usually takes people their whole childhood, and sometimes into adulthood to decide what that want to be “when they grow up”. I was part of a rare population; I knew what I wanted to be back in elementary school. I had a great school experience and was lucky to have been blessed with amazing teachers. These teachers were great; they made me want to be just like them. Teachers have an impact of the lives of their students. It is no coincidence that many people, even in old age, can still remember the names of their elementary school teachers.
I want to be one of those teachers that are always remembered. I want to provide students with the great school experience that I had. My past teachers have helped shaped me to be like them, understanding and caring of students. I believe that students need to be taught academics as well as moral values. There is nothing more important then teaching students to be respectful of others. I believe that in every lesson taught, whenever possible, adaptations should be included so that the lesson is appropriate for all students. No student is alike, some may be gifted and others may struggle with grade level material. Lessons and assignments should meet all students’ needs, so that they are able to thrive. Individualized attention is also important. Some students need one-on-one assistance in order to understand a topic. Others may benefit from cooperative learning, which is another technique I am a strong advocate for.
I strive to be a caring and understanding teacher. A student’s education and well being is my highest concern. I believe that all students should be provided with whatever is necessary to meet their needs.
