★why I choose the value?★

Respecting

     It sounds simple but it might not so simple for each person since understanding ‘differences’ is quite difficult. People should have an open mind to respect others. If there are different opinions with me, I should take the ideas as ‘different’ ideas, not ‘wrong’ ideas. I picked this value as my one of five values because I expect to get a job that requires working with others by a team, so I thought that I need to know how to properly respect others. Especially, I would like to work with people from all over the world, so learning how to respect will be more essential for me. When I worked as a student intern at an office of international affairs in Korea, I had many chances to meet foreign students who have diverse cultures. During the period, I could meet many girls from Indonesia and most of them took unique-shaping clothe that was called Hijab. When I didn’t know about the clothes, I thought that it looked a little bit weird and I couldn’t understand why they used it even though the weather was extremely hot. Later, I talked to one of the girls and asked about the clothes. According to her, they should apply Hijab since their religion is muslim, and they feel more mature and think that they are protected from bad luck by using Hijab. After her explanation, I finally could understand about the custom and didn’t think that it looked ridiculous anymore. Instead, I thought that Hijab is meaningful clothes and should be considered with pious mind.
