ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

Each student must pursue his or her academic goals honestly and be personally accountable for all submitted work. Representing another person’s work as your own is always wrong.  Faculty are required to report any suspected instance of academic dishonesty to the Academic Judiciary. For more comprehensive information on academic integrity, including categories of academic dishonesty, please refer to the academic judiciary website at http://www.stonybrook.edu/uaa/academicjudiciary/

Addendum:  Be aware that I may choose to submit essays at any time during the semester to SafeAssign and check them against the plagiarism database. Also be aware that you are not permitted to turn in previously written work (such as from a high-school assignment) without my express knowledge and permission, nor may a piece of writing serve to fulfill an assignment for another class without all affected instructors’ express knowledge and written permission. You may revise/repurpose passages from one assignment in this class to another (such as incorporating part of a mini-essay into your final project) without my permission.

CRITICAL INCIDENT

Stony Brook University expects students to respect the rights, privileges, and property of other people. Faculty are required to report to the Office of Judicial Affairs any disruptive behavior that interrupts their ability to teach, compromises the safety of the learning environment, and/or inhibits students’ ability to learn.
